In this month’s Scientific American Magazine‘s issue, a leading science magazine; details the result of a 15 years long research study to lab-test meditation benefits. Here are a few notable results (image courtesy Scientific American).
- People doing meditation on loving kindness were able to face distress and resonate with people with deep sympathy without becoming emotionally overwhelmed. That means, they could face repeated personal or professional distress without being burnt-out.
- Noticeable increase in grey matter even more pronounced for older meditators. Usually grey matters thins out with aging.
- Meditation slows down the process of cellular aging.
- Meditation works at-least as good as anti-depressants for reducing chance of relapse.
